This is the first chapter in our 7-part series we're calling the Sommelier Series. It's not so much about the profession of sommeliers but rather the quintessential wines that best illustrate a varietal. To do this, we are basing our tasting on the 21 wines we were given during our International Sommelier Guild certification. We will compare the quintessential wine with a more popular wine in hopes of finding differences between the two. This month, we will present a side-by-side tasting of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah. We will be tasting six wines. Our tasting will also discuss the AWS standard for scoring wines based on the wine judging session we attended at last year's AWS national conference. Our goal is to truly focus on education and the art of tasting wine. Your brains, and palates, will be expected to work!
Please remember to bring glasses and wine to share.
